Activities & Session Times
- New Mexico Sunday – a day full of activities geared toward the beautiful state you and your family are visiting
- Tamaya Monday – learn about the Pueblo of Santa Ana (Tamaya) through a number of activities that are similar to those done traditionally on the Pueblo
- Hisru Ku Hinu (You and Me) Tuesday – join us for a day full of arts and crafts. You will have a great day learning how to make pueblo rattles or using traditional symbols to rock paint. These and other crafts will make your stay a memorable one
- Wildlife Wednesday – we’ll take a walk through the cottonwood forest and learn about the local wildlife. Your day will also be filled with arts, crafts and games related to what you learn on our adventure
- Land of Enchantment Thursday – is the day to get muddy, as you learn to make an adobe house or an Indian eye. Crafts will help children understand why New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment.
- Farming Friday – discover why farming was so important to the pueblo people. Learn all about the crops they grew and the animals they raised. Seed painting and rain sticks are only two of the many activities you will do on this fun day
- Native American Saturday – during the summer months, bread baking and traditional dancing is on the agenda, as you participate in the resort’s cultural activities. In addition, today’s theme is “ you pick it, we do it.” You will have a chance to pick two additional crafts and add them to your day of fun. Children will learn about the many Native American Tribes and their differences in culture and traditions.
Once your parents or guardians sign you in, you will have some free time to get acquainted with the friendly Camp Tamaya staff. We start off each session with what we call the Hoppa (everyone) Circle. During the Hoppa Circle, you will learn about this beautiful place called Tamaya, learn the names of the surrounding mountain ranges, rivers and the Bosque (Cottonwood forest). The sessions will also consist of Arts and Crafts as well as indoor and outdoor activities. Be sure to bring your sunscreen because we may be spending some time going on a nature walk or swimming in one of our three pools.
